Oil & Gas Practice - Expert AP - North America
Who you’ll work with

You will be based out of one of McKinsey’s Oil & Gas hubs in North America as part of the Petroleum Asset Excellence (PAX) unit, part of our global Oil & Gas Practice.

PAX helps clients unlock the full value of their Oil & Gas assets in a sustainable way using a combination of deep industry expertise and reliable, tested solutions. Our Oil & Gas practice serves clients across the entire Oil & Gas value chain, helping them manage risk and uncertainty, strengthening their organizations and improving performance.
 
 You will be at the forefront of PAX’s expansion into North America, following the successful entry in Asia and EMEA.  To spearhead this expansion, McKinsey is looking for talented professionals of all levels with technical upstream expertise, especially around conventional and unconventional onshore operations and oil sands, to join PAX. This is an exciting opportunity for the entrepreneurial-minded, as you will be building our presence in a new territory. 

As part of PAX, you will work with and be part of a team of exceptional advisory professionals with similarly deep Upstream operational experience.        

What you’ll do

Your ultimate aspiration is to maximize the intrinsic value of our clients’ assets whilst improving capabilities and sustaining change.
 
You will apply your knowledge and distinctive problem-solving skills to address current business and performance challenges. You will participate as a leader or team member on client engagement work, providing intellectual insight and framing business problems in a way that the team can then execute to drive impact and client value.

You will participate as a leader or team member on onshore and offshore asset visits with a focus on operational improvement. Your work will advise client executives or provide analytical support to traditional McKinsey client service teams. You will drive implementation and change, leading or participating in client development for both current and new clients (e.g., meetings/workshops on topics of interest).

Qualifications
  • Undergraduate degree from a top-tier university required, preferably in Engineering or closely related field; Master’s or PhD degree would be advantageous
  • 10+ years deep industry experience with distinctive record of professional achievement and impact
  • Experience gained at a leading operator, service company or consultancy
  • Led or had a role in the operational improvement of an asset or facility
  • Expert in Reservoir Engineering, Production Optimization, Drilling & Completions or Well Management within international environments
  • Ability to communicate complex ideas effectively, both verbally and in writing, in English and the local office language(s)
