Who you’ll work with

You’ll join one of the Greater China offices as a Banking Digital Transformation Expert affiliated to Digital McKinsey. Digital McKinsey, formed from the merge of McKinsey's Business Technology Office, McKinsey Digital Labs and more, comprises of 2,100 consultants and experts across 60 offices globally. You will work with clients in a wide range of sectors and industries. Some Digital McKinsey consultants work exclusively within digital, while others mix their digital focus with broader consulting work (e.g., operations, organization, strategy, corporate finance, marketing and sales, etc.).

What you’ll do

You will  work with clients to define their digital strategy, develop a transformation road map, and lead integrated teams to execute on the digitization of customer journeys from re-design to development and roll-out.

As a business-oriented digital execution specialist you'll enable our clients by providing a distinctive level of subject matter expertise around how to re-design customer/operational/business experiences and deliver rapid business impact through the use of technology.

 
The role of the Banking Digital Transformation Expert covers a broad sets of responsibilities such as being a strategic business partner, digital solution designer, execution partner and client capability accelerator.

 In this role you will partner with client executives to understand business objectives and strategy, define customer journeys across the business ecosystem, and prioritize and sequence digital opportunities into a holistic transformation road map, collaborate with the business, operations, and IT to define the investment profile and expected benefits from the transformation and establish a governance process to manage.
 
You will also design digital solution design by leading integrated, cross-functional teams (client, McKinsey, technology vendors, system integrators) to develop the future-state business and solution architecture and identify opportunities to strategically buy or ‘rent’ digital components vs. build as part of the solution. Guide clients on technology solution choices, selection criteria and vendor trade-offs.
Define the implications to client operating model, new roles and org implications, and define operating processes
 
You will also act as an execution partner to business and technology through leading a highly collaborative execution teams to build digital solutions and ensure prioritization of highest business value features. Instills execution best practices by bringing expertise around Agile development methodology and principles to ensure iterative approach and close user/business involvement. Partners with IT leadership to ensure close collaboration on delivery and complex integrations with core systems.
 
You will accelerate client capability by supporting and implementing test and learn programs for clients.

Qualifications
  • Ability to lead large scale business and IT transformations (e.g., 4-5+ concurrent sprint teams) from strategy setting through planning and execution
  • Deep expertise with Agile methodologies and ability to apply in different environments
  • Strategic/execution focused – ability to develop plans/roadmaps to align with strategy
  • Understanding of digital solutions (spanning operational, enterprise, and web/mobile/social platforms), with a keen awareness of current industry and domain trends
  • Analytical thinker with excellent quantitative and superior problem solving skills
  • Ability to handle fast-paced environment, managing multiple projects and consistent track record of meeting deadlines
  • Strategic, creative, analytical and financial acumen as well as a strong business intellect and action orientation
  • Manages effectively with vision and purpose, develops organizational capability, demonstrates solid flexibility orientation, as well as a bias toward effectively navigating continual change management
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire a team, to motivate and gain commitment and trust from direct reports and colleagues, and to ultimately develop a high performing team. Handson collaborative style of working is essential.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to influence various levels of management, and to work across diverse business functions and teams that are geographically dispersed
  • Entrepreneurial spirit with strong program and project management skills
  • 15+ years’ experience executing and leading large scale business-technology implementations, with a strong focus on enabling banking transformative customer experiences and business capabilities
  • Proven ability leading cross-functional teams from a mix of internal and external team members
  • Ability to think quickly and critically on a broad range of technology and operational topics across various verticals
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Chinese; ability to communicate with senior technology and business leaders and C-level executives
  • Professional attitude and service orientation; team player
  • Willingness to travel
  • Prior experience in management consulting a bonus
