Firm Functions - Senior Personnel Data Scientist/Analyst - Atlanta, GA
Who you’ll work with

You'll work in our Atlanta, GA office with our Internal People Analytics team. This team designs and executes projects supporting McKinsey’s people mission: to build a great Firm that attracts, develops, excites, and retains exceptional people.  

The team is a collection of bright, highly motivated researchers with a varied backgrounds focused on understanding and optimizing personnel operations at McKinsey.  The team works in a highly collaborative environment, and partners with other teams within the Firm to deliver meaningful innovation in people analytics. 

 

What you’ll do

As a Senior Personnel Data Scientist/Analyst, you will provide insight and create reports to meet the operational needs of the Firm. You will be responsible for managing projects in support of the Firm’s evaluation processes, corporate planning, consultant feedback, and Key Performance Indicator (KPI) reporting. You will build models to monitor and analyze key indicators of human capital, and conduct predictive modeling of consulting staff growth that consider competing demands of business units, geographies, and consultant profiles. You will also manage personnel data and systems from many sources across the Firm.

Qualifications
Our analysts have expertise in various areas including: 

•    Statistical modeling, machine learning, data mining
•    Survey design and implementation
•    Synthesis, communication, and presentation to senior leaders
•    Data storage, schema design, cleaning, and ETL
•    People Analytics and visualization
•    Automation and data-related process improvement

We are looking for an individual that meets the qualifications/skill set outlined below: 
  • Advanced Degree (master's degree or doctorate)
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience 
  • Successful project management within a team
  • Clear commitment to quality and accuracy
  • Excellent quantitative and database skills
  • Familiarity with statistical software (e.g., R, SPSS, STATA, SAS)
  • Advanced technical skills in Excel, including basic to intermediate familiarity with VBA macros
  • Proficiency in PowerPoint
  • Demonstrated skills in social science research and problem solving
  • Training in a related discipline e.g., statistics, mathematics, social science research, operations research, econometrics, or related field
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; must be able to communicate clearly, comfortably, and professionally with all internal clients including senior leaders and engage in stakeholder discussion
  • Strong collaborative work style
  • Ability to partner with/lead other analysts across a range of work streams/projects with constantly shifting priorities
  • Ability to design and manage large-scale (in regards to time, inputs, team members, and stakeholders - with analytic and technical projects)
  • Integrity and professionalism in dealing with confidential information
