Who you’ll work with

You’ll work with our Pharmaceuticals & Medical Products (PMP) Analytics team in Waltham, MA.

PMP Analytics is part of McKinsey Solutions and McKinsey’s New Ventures. The Pharmaceuticals & Medical Products Solution has three dedicated functional service lines spanning research and development, operations and commercial, as well as a host of client interest groups and functional joint ventures. 

New Ventures is a recently formed part of McKinsey focused on fostering innovations driven by analytics, design thinking, mobile, social and other technologies and integrating them into our client work. It is a foundation for—and expands our investment in—our entrepreneurial culture. 

McKinsey Solutions is a core part of New Ventures and offers practical tools that help people at all levels of an organization generate insights they need to address both strategic and day-to-day decisions. These solutions complement McKinsey's traditional client service and are delivered in many ways, including subscriptions, workshops, training programs and project-based engagements. You will work closely with clients to embed our tools, analytics and expertise, and provide on-going support to help them build the capabilities they need to revolutionize how decisions are made.

What you’ll do

You will oversee multiple simultaneous deployments to institutionalize use of analytical tools.  

You'll provide support to more junior members and to our client service teams, and you'll design and lead large, complex, high-profile and non-standard sessions/workshops on findings and implications.  You'll work with our client service teams to adapt their approaches to changes in the competitive landscape, and you'll help to adapt proposal or deployment plans accordingly.  Additionally, you'll provide problem-solving support to address complex client needs or provide support on more sophisticated analysis.

You'll help to build high performing and highly engaged teams, you'll build client and client service team tool capabilities, and you'll translate insights into recommendations that drive impact to maintain utilization and drive client retention.  You'll ensure your team is leveraging the latest relevant analytical or industry developments, and you'll identify new analyses or implementation strategies that could contribute to future iterations or extension of analytic tools.

  • University degree in Statistics, Math, Business, or Economics; advanced degree preferred
  • 8+ years of relevant experience in Advanced Analytics, such as predictive modelling, statistical analysis, machine learning 
  • Experience managing several small, or single mid-sized team
  • Expert level skills on statistical software languages (e.g., Excel, R, SAS, MATLAB, Spark, etc.)
  • Expert in analytics software deployment or relevant industry/function
  • Entrepreneurial drive and technical acumen to make strategic decisions
  • Ability to communicate and work with leadership of a top-tier, client-focused professional service organization
  • Exceptional project management skills. Experience managing multiple timelines in a deadline driven environment
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills
  • Exceptional top down communication skills related to project management (e.g., setting goals, planning, prioritizing)
  • Aptitude and excitement for applying analytics to help solve clients’ most pressing business challenges
