Human Capital Analyst - North America - Atlanta
Who you’ll work with

McKinsey & Company’s internal human capital analytics team designs and executes projects supporting McKinsey’s people mission: to build a great Firm that attracts, develops, excites, and retains exceptional people.  The team is an internal team of data science consultants focused on the personnel operations of McKinsey.  Analysts interact directly with leaders and Partners of the firm at all levels.

What you’ll do

Analysts have expertise in data covering:

  • Data storage, schema design, cleaning, and ETL
  • Analytics and visualization
  • Automation and data-related process improvement
  • Statistical modeling, machine learning, data mining
  • Synthesis, communication, and presentation to senior leaders
Analysts have responsibilities to the Firm that include:
  • Provide data and reports to meet the operational needs of the Firm
  • Manage projects in support of the Firm’s evaluation processes, corporate planning, consultant feedback, and KPI reporting
  • Build models to predict drivers of high performance, drivers of attrition/retention, etc.
  • Build forecasting models of consulting staff growth that consider competing demands of business units, geographies, and consultant profiles
  • Develop a mastery of and manage all personnel data and systems from many sources across the Firm

  • Advanced database skills in enterprise class data environments including Access, Oracle, MySQL; designing and building databases and advanced queries to access, manipulate, and analyze information
  • Advanced technical skills in Excel, including familiarity with VBA macros
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must be able to communicate clearly, comfortably, and professionally with all internal clients including senior leaders.  Proficiency in PowerPoint
  • Strong independent, as well as collaborative, problem solving and research skills
  • Project management, including ability to deal with ambiguity, prioritize, multi-task, work under time pressure, and adhere to deadlines
  • Ability to design and manage large-scale - in regards to time, inputs, team members, and stakeholders - analytic and technical projects
  • Ability to lead other analysts across a range of work streams/projects with constantly shifting priorities
  • Integrity and professionalism in dealing with confidential information

Training in a quantitative or technical discipline like engineering, statistics, mathematics, science, operations research, econometrics, or related field; advanced degree preferred.

Minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience demonstrating:
  • Successful project management within a team
  • Excellent quantitative and database skills
  • Ability to communicate professionally with clients and engage in stakeholder discussion
  • Clear commitment to quality and accuracy​
