Who you’ll work with

You’ll work on the New Ventures Technology Solutions team with McKinsey & Co. located in Chicago.

New Ventures is a recently formed part of McKinsey focused on fostering innovations driven by analytics, design thinking, mobile, social and other technologies and integrating them into our client work. It is a foundation for—and expands our investment in—our entrepreneurial culture.

As one of the fastest-growing parts of our firm, New Ventures has more than 1,000 dedicated professionals (including more than 800 analysts and data scientists) and we’re hiring more mathematicians, data scientists, designers, software engineers, product managers, client development managers and general managers.

McKinsey Solutions is a core part of New Ventures and offers practical tools that help people at all levels of an organization generate insights they need to address both strategic and day-to-day decisions. These solutions complement McKinsey's traditional client service and are delivered in many ways, including subscriptions, workshops, training programs and project-based engagements. We work closely with clients to embed our tools, analytics and expertise, and provide on-going support to help them build the capabilities they need to revolutionize how decisions are made.

What you’ll do

You will work with McKinsey consultants to identify how our experience and knowledge can be converted into competitively advantaged software products.

You’ll work with our product development staff to build and execute product roadmaps. Reflecting the early stages of the new solutions growth, you’ll architect and oversee deployment of initial solutions, and you will also design delivery processes.

You’ll have the opportunity to leverage your expertise in product strategy, product architecture, configuration & integration strategies, and long-term customer success. You will employ an affirmative, can-do approach to evaluating and pursuing new ideas, while also bringing judgment to ensure that the solutions always exceeds expectations from clients and McKinsey consultants.

  • Undergraduate degree with outstanding record of academic achievement
  • 5 - 6 years of professional experience in software roles, including meaningful experience in: Strategic Product management/ Product marketing, Product design / Product development Technical Product management/ Functional design
  • Working knowledge of SaaS technical issues (e.g., configuration, integration, etc.)
  • Able to appreciate differences in market needs, competitive environment, and cultural norms across multiple countries and sectors
  • Demonstrated aptitude for analytics
  • Proven record of leadership in a work setting and/or through extracurricular activities
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Ability to work effectively with people at all levels in an organization
  • Willingness to travel 25% of time
