Sustainable Urban Economic Development - Human Resource Coordinator - Nairobi
Who you’ll work with

SUED is a donor-funded, 6-year programme whose core objective is to provide sustainable urban economic development in Small and Medium Towns (SMTs) in Kenya. The programme improved urban economic planning at county level, improved sub-national business environment reforms, and established an Urban Investment Advisory Facility (UIAF) to support public-private investment in Infrastructure, and high potential value chains across Kenya.

What you’ll do

Reporting to the Programme Coordinator, the Human Resources Coordinator (HRC) is responsible for the day-to-day management of all HR requirements relating to the programme activities. They will be responsible for establishing an HR recruitment and management system. They will be in charge of sourcing and recruiting talented professionals into the programme.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop talent acquisition strategies for positions arising in the PMU
  • Serve as our in-house expert and advisor on recruitment best practices, regulations and policies
  • Plan and conduct searches for a range of positions  
  • Attract and engage passive and active candidates through a creative mix of online and traditional networking tools and sourcing techniques
  • Screen and select the strongest candidates, using standardised processes to comply with  the specifications set
  • Manage candidates seamlessly through the interview and offer process, providing them with a consistently positive experience

Qualifications
  • A bachelor’s degree in human resources, business management or related field
  • At least 5 years’ recruiting experience, with proven success using a diverse sourcing toolkit that includes job boards, LinkedIn, search engines and other means to identify top talent
  • Expertise in developing successful recruitment strategies and candidate pipelines
  • Expertise in behavioral and situational interviewing techniques
  • Demonstrated talent assessment capabilities
  • A solid understanding of employment and labor laws in Kenya
  • A client-service orientation, with the ability to effectively advise the team leaders and leads
  • Experience managing project consultants and the ability to forecast staffing requirements is critical in this role 
  • Detailed organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple competing priorities
  • Outstanding written and oral English and good communication skills
