From both our Louvain-la-Neuve and Amsterdam locations, more than 50 knowledge professionals provide consulting teams and clients in the region with the expertise and research they need. The Benelux team is a group of about 8 members that belong to this global community of knowledge professionals. We focus on various industrial topics (e.g., public sector, healthcare, retail/consumer goods, telecom/media) and functional areas (e.g., operations, marketing, organization) in Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg.

What you’ll do

The Junior Research Analyst will primarily work with consultants and clients from all McKinsey & Company offices in Benelux as well as interact with colleagues from around the globe. Currently we’re looking for a Junior Research Analyst that can develop functional expertise in industrial operations, equipment and processes with the objective to help client improve their operations.

Scope of the Junior Research Analyst position:

  • Perform ad-hoc investigation on a wide variety of business and economic topics (e.g., industry overviews, case study materials, financial and macro-economic data analyses) to support consulting teams in solving client issues
  • Pro-actively enhance knowledge of consultants and clients in various business sectors through collection, analysis, synthesis and distribution of the latest information and trends in the area
  • Develop distinctive, relevant expertise and contribute to building proprietary knowledge, benchmarks and tools
  • Deliver hands-on, expertise-based support to operations engagements in industrial environments
  • You will work in teams of typically 3 – 5 consultants, playing an active role in all aspects of client engagement

  • Master degree in physics, chemistry or engineering (e.g., Mechanical Engineer, Master in Chemistry) with excellent results (mandatory)
  • Fluent in English and French or Dutch. Knowledge of all 3 languages is considered an asset
  • Good understanding and interest for business and economics
  • University graduate or limited work experience (< 2 years)
  • Strong interest and proven ability in collection, analysis, synthesis and development of knowledge
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Intellectual curiosity in energy, industrial processes and equipment supported by a basic understanding of chemistry and thermodynamics
  • Excellent qualitative and quantitative analytic skills
  • Hands-on computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Office applications)
  • Good communicator and team player
  • Enthusiastic, high energy, creativity, independent and entrepreneurial attitude
  • Nice to have: international travel experience/university exchange program/work for NGO abroad; relevant internship; additional language capabilities
