What you’ll do

Since our inception, we’ve been engaging with world-class Life Science/Medical Device clients ranging from Johnson & Johnson, Medtronic, Illumina, Intuitive Surgical, Abbott, BD Biosciences, Covidien, Novartis, Philips, Siemens, and Varian, to name a few. With our new partnership, LUNAR will build off of its strong user-centered design heritage and provide high impact best-in-class design development for the world’s leading brands. 

LUNAR is looking for a Staff Designer within our Life Sciences Team who will engage in the development of innovative technologies following a user-focused design process. In this position, you will:

  • Participate in design charrettes
  • Create presentation drawings and materials
  • Produce working CAD geometry
  • Conduct research evaluations
  • Identify usability and human factor needs



Your ability to design and inspire others to create unique and breakthrough design is critical, however your success leading design teams and projects is just as important. You must have impressive visual design skills and be experienced in all phases of the design process, including working knowledge of design research & strategy, usability & human factors, and documentation creation.


  • Minimum 4 years of experience creating inspiring products and solutions for the healthcare industry
  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design or equivalent experience
  • Excellent communication skillsIndustrial Design problem solving and expression/form giving
  • Management of the design process activities, drive decisions and assist in resource planning
  • Ability to work in close collaboration with LUNAR leadership
  • Unique understanding of global trends in design and CMF (Color, Materials and Finishes)
  • Inspiring technical skills in 2D and 3D programs
  • Knowledge of manufacturing techniques and engineering principles
  • Strong knowledge of user experience design processes and principles
  • Ability to promote and maintain the LUNAR brand, approach and accomplishments
  • Exceptional visual design skills 
Required Skills, Knowledge and Experience:
  • Exceptional SolidWorks skills. Able to produce 2D illustrations, rapid-prototype models, and production components
  • Skilled in the preparation of stunning presentation materials
  • Capable of conducting user and usability research and evaluations
  • Experience with projects run under design controls incorporating IEC 62366 and HE75
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team to brainstorm, conceptualize and solve design problems, including features critical to function, form, ergonomics, aesthetics, and usability
  • Experience incorporating anthropometric data and reference materials into your design process
  • Experience with/appreciation for mechanical engineering, assembly and production
