Who you’ll work with

You’ll be working with McKinsey’s Operations practice in Atlanta, Calgary, Chicago, Cleveland, Dallas, Denver, Detroit, Los Angeles, Miami, Montreal, New Jersey (Summit), New York Area-Connecticut (Stamford), San Francisco, Toronto, Vancouver, or Washington, D.C.

Our Operations practice assists our clients in solving complex operational challenges. Blending strategic thinking with hands-on practicality, our teams of consultants and experts work to develop and implement operational strategies that solve our clients' most critical problems.

McKinsey’s Corporate and Business Functions Practice – part of our Operations practice – drives shared services and support function redesign and transformation engagements. Our experience includes optimizing functions such as IT, Finance, HR, Procurement, Legal and Facilities Management, redefining end-to-end cross functional processes such as Procure-to-Pay and Order-to-Cash; and assisting clients develop integrated enterprise services.

What you’ll do

As Back Office Transformation Associate you will be responsible for blending strategic thinking with hands-on implementation, advising on developing and defining operational strategies to help our clients around the world solve their most critical problems.

You will synthesize conclusions into recommendations and work directly with senior client leaders to implement change. As you serve different clients in various industries and functional areas, Associates develop a broad toolkit of problem-solving skills, leadership capabilities and foundational knowledge that they can apply to each new client engagement.

Qualifications
  • Advanced degree or MBA from a premier institution
  • 3+ years of experience driving strategy and implementing solutions that transformed a corporate function (HR, Finance, IT, Legal, etc.)
  • Record of achievement and impact in the following topics: operational redesign, G&A cost reduction, global shared services (onshoring/offshoring,) process & ERP optimization, lean/continuous improvement, service delivery effectiveness and productivity improvement levers
  • Demonstrated aptitude for analytics
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Ability to work effectively with people at all levels in an organization
  • Skills to communicate complex ideas effectively
  • Willingness to travel up to 80% (Monday-Thursday)
