You'll work with our IT Operations & Production (ITOP) in San Jose, Costa Rica. ITOP is part of the Global IT Services organization. The team is responsible for managing the Firm’s entire global IT applications and infrastructure.

UNIX, backup and storage support is a part of the ITOP services. The Senior Technical Specialist-Unix, Backup, Storage provides administration and 2nd level technical support for McKinsey’s Firm-wide AIX and Linux server, TSM backup and storage environments, and related systems for security protection, monitoring, software distribution, etc. Beyond that, s/he contributes to the continuous improvement of these environments and related support procedures.
Typical for the role is that the Senior Technical Specialist-Unix, Backup, Storage encounters a variety of support requests in the defined area on a regular basis in a fast-paced environment. This requires the individual to be highly adaptable and open to work on new tasks. S/he has to keep up with a rapidly changing environment through a strong willingness and ability to learn.

Key responsibilities include tasks like perform administration and 2nd level support for our Firm-wide AIX and Linux servers (both physical and virtual), TSM backup infrastructure and storage environments, conduct advanced troubleshooting in these areas that may be not documented in regular procedures, perform root cause analysis including the identification of workarounds and solutions as part of the problem management process and occasional participation in infrastructure-related projects.
