Digital Center of Competence (CoC) - Senior Analyst - Asia - Shanghai
Who you’ll work with

You will be based in Shanghai and will be part of the China Digital Center of Competence (CoC) supporting the Digital service line within the Digital McKinsey practice. The CoC serves as a centralized hub of Digital experts that houses key proprietary knowledge assets of the service line.


What you’ll do

As a Senior Analyst focused on Digital topic, you will be expected to have a good understanding of how digital – eCommerce, big data, Analytics, Cloud, etc – enables / impact technology driven solutions and provide domain expertise in one or more topics across Digital strategy and operations, e.g. Digital transformation planning, Digital organization setup, Digital marketing delivery
Your work will help shape critical business decisions for our clients and will require an in-depth analysis, data modelling and communicating in a structured and top down manner.
The primary job responsibilities for you as a Sr. Analyst would fall into following categories:

Client services -You will be required to support client engagements, either remote or on-site (Such on-site staffing could be local or global in nature) and problem solve with client and internal teams, help scope and structure complex requests/project requirements, and create approaches to tackle client requests. You will be expected to provide knowledge expertise in focus domains (e.g. eCommerce, big data, digital marketing, etc) in client discussion. The role requires you to create top notch presentations, memos, and/or data models that deliver key insights, analyses and recommendations to clients. May also include supporting client development efforts , e.g. preparing content for client project proposal, discussion meeting, etc
Knowledge building-As a Senior Analyst you will develop expertise in Digital and managing proprietary knowledge assets of the service line. Stay abreast of external/industry developments, conduct market/industry scan, and build knowledge infrastructure for Greater China Digital practice, topics including eCommerce, Big data, FinTech, ARVR, IoTs, etc
Identify firm's knowledge gaps in focus areas, and helps to fill the gaps by actively codifying knowledge content and promote knowledge sharing and dissemination within firm and practice. You will also be required to conduct research to answer requests from client (both external and internal) regarding key domains topics, e.g. eCommerce, ICT in China, Digital, etc.
People management-You will be expected to help build capabilities and act as team members' mentor to provide timely coaching and guidance.
Practice / team support-You will be supporting practice reach and relevance initiatives(e.g. providing knowledge content, facilitating event process, etc)  as client workshops, recruiting events, industry forums, quarterly publication, etc and also support local/regional leadership on emerging topics.

  • Undergraduate or Post-graduate from reputed university, with 4-6 years of relevant work experience
  • Strong understanding and knowledge of China IT/Digital/Online services industry, trends, key players / vendors
  • Strong understanding of key Digital/IT operations topics (e.g. eCommerce delivery, Digital marketing, Digital organization, FinTech, Digital/IT strategy and transformation)
  • Digital process design and optimization experience, focusing on either front end client facing process (e.g. client registration/on-boarding/account opening, etc) or back end operations process(e.g. inventory management, order to cash, etc) digitization design and optimization
  • Digital/IT strategy and implementation experience with financial institutions (e.g. banking/insurance/wealth management , etc), including Digital/IT planning, FinTech strategy, online finance platform building, core platform transformation/implementation, architecture design, governance model design, etc
  • Other digital operations experience and knowledge, including but not limited to social media, big data/advanced analytics, cloud computing, mobile app/platform, etc
  • Excellent English communication skills, both written and oral
  • Professional attitude and service orientation
  • Collaborative team players, capable of working well with others but also autonomously with little direction
  • Superior problem-solving, analytical, and quantitative skills
  • Creative thinking and strive for quality
  • Excited about working in a highly demanding and result-oriented team environment
  • Willingness to travel to other offices/client locations for short/long term assignments
